The lesson, that brought all this to mind, addresses Neutral Thoughts, Lesson 16. The Course states that there are no neutral thoughts, only positive and negative. Every thought you have brings love or fear. If we classify ambivalent thoughts as neutral, the Course would have us rename them as negative. If I must give up my on the fence position to maintain positive energy toward others, then I will. I can change.
Also, take note that singing and breathing go together, which means that you can never sing effectively without having the right breathing pattern. You voice teacher will give you a breathing lesson and the correct way to utilize your diaphragm when singing. This may entail the different ways of taking in air, breathing deeply, and even using up the residual air in the lungs.
What is this hardest lesson for us all to learn in life? Learning what to take seriously and what to not take seriouslymainly ourselves and all we think we know to be so. Take the institution of religion for an example. It is no wonder that so many churches are dying on the vine. People are waking up to the reality that we all have to find our own way back to the underlying mental and spiritual well-being we were born with; this is what institutions like religion took away, although with the best of intentions. This is because they took themselves a little too seriously, claiming to be the only way towards what was right, good and necessary.
